Hirudin powder is one of the most active and most studied active ingredients extracted from leeches and their salivary glands. It is a small molecule polypeptide composed of 65-66 amino acids. Leeches are rich in hirudin, which has a strong inhibitory effect on thrombin and is the strongest natural specific inhibitor of thrombin found so far. Hirudin has strong anticoagulation and antithrombotic effects, and has broad application prospects in clinical treatment and prevention of various thrombosis.

1.It is a naturally occurring peptide in the salivary glands of medicinal leeches (Hirudo medicinalis) that has a blood
anticoagulant property.
2.Similar to antithrombin III, the anticoagulatant activity of hirudin powder is based on its ability to inhibit the pro-coagulant activity of thrombin.
3.It can prevent or dissolve the formation of clots and thrombi (i.e. it has a thrombolytic activity), and has therapeutic value in blood coagulation disorders, in the treatment of skin hematomas and of superficial varicose veins.
