Nicotine, is an alkaloid found in Solanaceae (Solanum) and an important component of tobacco. Nicotine also represents an N-choline receptor agonist. Nicotine has no clinical application value as it affects both N1 and N2 receptors and the central nervous system.

Application
Nicotinoids are pyridine alkaloids that have been used as horticultural insecticides. Nicotine can be oxidized to nicotinic acid, used as medicine, food and feed additives.
It is used for making e-cigarette, e-cigarette oil, medicine, food, nutrition and health care products, essence and flavor, cosmetics, animal feed additives, cigarette flavoring agent, diet pills, smoking cessation drugs and other chemical and biochemical reagents.
Nicotinic acid is a highly volatile insecticide of plant source. It can control aphids, scale insects, leaf miner, thrips and butterfly larvae on vegetables and fruit trees, and can also be used to control rice planthoppers and red spider on cotton and citrus. Nicotinic acid mainly has fumigation effect on insects, but also has touching, stomach poison, inhibition of growth and development and certain ovicidal effect.
