Piroxicamis a kind of white or yellowish green crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless. Almost insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol or ether, easily soluble in chloroform, slightly soluble in acetone, soluble in acid.

Piroxicam is a long-term non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug of benzothiazide. It has a strong inhibitory effect on the synthase of PG in vivo, and inhibits the movement of white blood cells to inflammatory areas and the release of lysosomal enzymes. Function

Piroxicam is a long-acting non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agent with analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effects. This product plays a pharmacological role by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, reducing the synthesis of prostaglandin in tissues and inhibiting the chemotaxis of leukocytes and release of lysosomal enzymes. Oral absorption is rapid and complete, food can reduce absorption rate, but does not affect total absorption. Tmax3 ~ 5 h. T1/2 was 30-86h, PPBChemicalbook was more than 90%, and t1/2 was prolonged in patients with renal insufficiency, mainly through liver metabolism. Due to the long duration of T1/2, blood concentration can be maintained relatively stable for 24h by one administration, and accumulation is easy to be caused by multiple administration. The effective concentration in blood was 1.5 ~ 2μg/ mL. Plasma stable concentration should be achieved 7 to 12 days after initiation of treatment. 66% were excreted from the kidney, 33% were excreted from the stool, and <5% were protoplasm.
