Brief introduction of Ivermectin powder:

Ivermectin is a new broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, low-toxicity antibiotic antiparasitic drug, which has a good killing effect on internal and external parasites, especially nematodes and arthropods. But it is ineffective against tapeworms, flukes and protozoa.

Function of Ivermectin powder:

The repelling effect of macrolide antiparasitic drugs on nematodes and arthropods is to increase the release of the inhibitory transmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) of the worms, and to open the Cl ion channel controlled by glutamate, Enhance the permeability of the nerve membrane to Cl, thereby blocking the transmission of nerve signals, eventually nerve paralysis, so that muscle cells lose the ability to contract, resulting in the death of the worm.

Because flukes and tapeworms do not use GABA as a transmitter and lack Cl channels controlled by glutamate, this class of drugs is ineffective. The peripheral neurotransmitter of mammals is acetylcholine. Although GABA is distributed in the central nervous system, this type of drug is not easy to penetrate the blood-brain barrier and has little effect on it, so it is relatively safe to use.

The mechanism by which this class of drugs affects parasite reproduction is not well understood, but it can reduce oviposition in ticks, abnormal egg shape of ruminant nematodes and sterility of filamentous nematodes (male and female).

Application of Ivermectin powder:

Ivermectin is widely used in gastrointestinal nematodes, lung nematodes and parasitic arthropods of cattle, sheep, horses and pigs, intestinal nematodes in dogs, ear mites, scabies mites, heartworms and microfilariae, and poultry stomach Gut nematodes and ectoparasites.

(1) cattle and sheep

Ivermectin is administered orally or subcutaneously to cattle and sheep at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg. Mouth nematodes, nematodes, trichomes, esophagus mouth nematodes, reticulate nematodes, and Charbert nematodes adults and fourth-stage larvae, and the deworming rate is 97% to 100%. The above doses are also very effective against arthropods: such as fly maggots (Cowfly, Cowfly, Sheepfly), mites (Bovine scabies, prurigo) and lice (Bovine palatal lice, bovine blood louse and sheep palatal louse) Wait. Ivermectin is less effective against chewing louse (Liceus spp.) and sheep tick flies.

Ivermectin is also extremely effective against ticks and flies that breed in feces. Although the drug does not immediately kill or dismember ticks, it can affect feeding, molting, and egg laying, thereby reducing reproductive capacity. The above phenomenon was most obvious in ticks when the animals were given a subcutaneous injection of 0.2 mg/kg once or fed a low concentration (0.01 mg/kg) drug daily for 5 days. A subcutaneous injection at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg also has a certain control effect on the flies that breed in the feces. After 9 days of drug administration, the larvae of the feces and the flies of the faecium cannot develop into adults. After another 5 days, due to the abnormality of the pupae and the The mature process of adult flies is hindered and the reproduction of flies is greatly reduced. The above doses were used for blood flies (blood flies), and the situation was similar after 4 weeks.

(2) Horses

Oral administration of 0.2 mg/kg ivermectin in horses is highly effective (95% to 100%) on adults and fourth-stage larvae of the following large and small round nematodes; nematodes, round worms), roundworms (paraascaris equine), pinworms (equinox equine), stomach worms (Draxiella maxima, D. elegans), intestinal nematodes (T. Strongyloides Wechnerii), Lung nematodes (Reichthys angelica), etc. For the three types of equine stomach fly maggots in the migration or gastric residence period, the onchocerciasis microfilariae that cause skin damage and the third stage larvae of gastric nematodes, although the amount of 0.2 mg/kg applied at one time is also very limited, the best solution is It is to be administered again in the above amount after one month.

It is of particular significance that the recommended dose of ivermectin (0.2mg/kg) is about 99% effective in treating mesenteric artery damage caused by the early and fourth stage larvae of Oryx vulgaris, and the usual medication 2 Days later, the symptoms were significantly relieved, and the damage symptoms disappeared in about 28 days.

(3) Pig

Intramuscular injection of 0.3 mg/kg ivermectin has broad-spectrum anthelmintic activity in pigs. Such as Ascaris suum, Strongylargi suis, Strongyloides lansii, Trichocarpus nematodes, Esophagus nematodes, Strongyloides esophagus, Cristina dentatus adults and immature worms, the expelling rate is 94% to 100%. Intratracheal Trichinella (inactive within the muscles) is also extremely effective. The above-mentioned method also has a good control effect on pig blood lice and pig scabies mites.

(4) Dogs and cats

There are special formulations in foreign countries (according to 6-12 μg/kg) for the prevention and treatment of canine heartworm microfilaria infection. In my country, 50 μg/kg of oral administration can be used to treat heartworm microfilaria infection (adults are invalid). Clinical trials have confirmed that high-dose ivermectin is highly effective against a variety of parasites in dogs, such as a subcutaneous injection of 50μg/kg for Ancylostoma canis, Anchostomia brasiliensis, and Ancylostoma canis, and 100μg/kg for Trichuris canis , 200μg/kg on Toxocara canis adult and fourth stage larvae have excellent driving effect. For Toxocara lion, according to the dose of 200μg/kg, the effect of subcutaneous injection is only 69%, while that of oral administration is 95%. A single subcutaneous injection of this product also has an excellent expelling effect on Capillary nematodes (200μg/kg) and Ostleria ausleri (400μg/kg) parasitic in the lungs of dogs. Oral or subcutaneous injection of 200 μg/kg, and then once after two weeks, has an effective rate of 95% to 100% on intestinal Strongyloides stercoralis (except the third stage larvae).

Ivermectin is also effective for certain arthropod infections in dogs and cats. Subcutaneous injection of 200μg/kg in dogs and cats, and once again after two weeks can eliminate the infection of ear mites, scabies mites, and canine lung mites. At 300μg/kg, it is also very effective for the infection of Chia chelae mites when used twice (2 weeks apart). Treatment of canine demodicosis is best by subcutaneous injection of 600μg/kg, with an interval of 7 days. Use 5 times in a row.

(5) Poultry

It is highly effective for poultry nematodes such as Ascaris ascaris and capillary nematodes and parasitic arthropods of poultry, such as Knee mites (mutant Knee mites), etc. However, this product is ineffective against Heterospinus hens.

(6) Reindeer

To infect the reindeer hide fly maggot (Oedemagena tarandi), subcutaneous injection can be done according to the bovine dose (200μg/kg).
