Hesperidin (glycoside) is a flavonoid substance with a dihydroflavone oxyside structure and is weakly acidic. The pure product is white needle-like crystals, which are the main components of vitamin P. After hydrogenation, hesperidin is a natural sweetener dihydrochadrone, which is 1000 times sweeter than sucrose, and can be used as a functional food. Hesperidin has a variety of biological characteristics, modern studies have found that hesperidin can resist oxidation and anti-cancer, anti-mildew, anti-allergic, lower blood pressure, inhibit oral cancer, esophageal cancer, maintain osmotic pressure, enhance capillary toughness, reduce cholesterol and other effects. Product Application

Production method

The product is contained in the peels of lemons, citrus, daiyo flowers and other fruits. In the genus Cirtus, those with developed mesocarp (white spongy tissue) mostly contain citrus, and those with thinner mesocarp contain hesperidin. This product is extracted from dry, ripe orange peel. Finely chop the dried orange peel and soak it in 3-6 times the amount of water for about 0.5h to make it fluffy. Add 4-10% lime and 7-12 times the amount of water, stir well, and check the pH value. A pH value of 11.5-12 is required, otherwise lime or sodium hydroxide should be added. After soaking for 1.5-2h, centrifugal filtration, filter residue add 5-7 times the amount of water and then adjust the pH to 11.5-12 with an appropriate amount of lime, continue to soak and centrifuge filtration. After the filtrate is clear, add dilute hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH to 5, stand for 2d, collect the precipitate, wash with water until it is close to neutral, that is, the crude product is obtained. The crude product was dissolved with a mixture of 1% sodium hydroxide and 50% ethanol, filtered, the filtrate was then adjusted to pH to 5 with dilute hydrochloric acid, stood overnight, collected the precipitate, first washed with 50% ethanol once, and then washed with water until close to neutral, dried at 70 °C, crushed and sieved to obtain hesperidin. The overall yield for orange peel powder was 0.6-1.8%.
