Salvianolic acid B is formed by the condensation of 3 molecules of danshenin and 1 molecule of caffeic acid, with two carboxyl groups, which exist in the form of different salts (K+, Ca2+, Na+, NH4+ and other composite forms), in the process of decoction and concentration, a small part is hydrolyzed to form comfrey acid and danshensin, and a part of danshenin becomes rosmarinic acid under acidic conditions; Salvianolic acids A and C can be interchanged in solution, etc.

Protective effect of salvianolic acid B on myocardial infarction: A rat myocardialinfarction (MI) model was constructed by coronary artery ligation to investigate the protective effect of salvianolic acid B on MI. The results showed that salvianolic acid B was able to exert a significant cardioprotective effect on MI compared with the control group. Mechanistic studies have shown that salvianolic acid B mainly plays a protective role in the heart by inhibiting the up-regulation of leptin and endothelin-reactive oxygen species (ET-ROS) and restoring the normal expression of sarco/endoplasmicreticulum ATPase2a (SERCA2a) and phosphoprotein in myocardial center muscle cells. Salvianolic acid B has the effect of inhibiting cardiomyocyte hypertrophy inhibited by Chemicalbook: The effect of salvianolic acid B on angiotensin II (AngII.)-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy in neonatal rats was investigated, and the results showed that salvianolic acid B could inhibit the hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes induced by AngII., and the mRNA expression of cardiac natriuretic and cerebral natriuretic was decreased and the cell surface area was reduced.
