N-acetylcysteine is a prodrug of cysteine and an N-acetylated derivative of ʟ-cysteine. N-acetylcysteine can be used as a mucolytic agent for adjuvant treatment of bronchopulmonary disease; N-acetylcysteine can also be used as an antidote for acetaminophen poisoning; in addition, patients with cystinuria can use this drug for renal flushing to promote the ablation of cystine stones, and it can replenish glutathione reserves after oral administration, intravenous injection or inhalation.

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is an N-acetylated derivative of cysteine and a precursor of glutathione. N-acetylcysteine has pharmacological effects such as anti-oxidation, anti-inflammatory, dilation of microvessels, and protection of DNA molecules. It can be used clinically for a variety of indications, including dissolving phlegm, rescuing acetaminophen poisoning, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), lung injury caused by hyperoxia, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.
Product Application
N-acetylcysteine has antioxidant activity, and can promote the synthesis of glutathione antioxidant oxidase in liver, maintain liver function, and detoxify liver. N-acetylcysteine can support lung function, dissolve mucus and assist in the treatment of chronic bronchitis. Clinically, N-acetylcysteine is used to detoxify liver toxicity caused by excessive use of acetaminophen (fever reduction, pain killers, etc.) and to treat COPD. Detoxifying acetaminophen: Clinical studies have shown that N-acetylcysteine is effective in reducing permanent liver damage and even death from acetaminophen, and is as effective orally as it is by injection.
