Epoprostenol sodium (Prostaglandin I2 sodium salt) is a synthetic form of prostaglandin I2, a natural prostaglandin derivative, used in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) research.Epoprostenol sodium is used in pulmonary hypertension and transplantation as a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation. Epoprostenol sodium is used as a potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation in pulmonary arterial hypertension and transplantation.Prostacyclin is an antithrombin antagonist, and its reduced synthesis promotes thrombosis.PGI2 is related to the pharmacodynamic effect of aspirin and other antithrombotic drugs, acting in the cells on the blood vessels, it can not only dilate small blood vessels, but also inhibit platelet aggregation, anti-thrombotic, inhibit the release of inflammatory mediators, anti-remodeling.Epoprostenol is unstable, in vivo rapid decomposition to 6 one-keto-PGF1αt for 2-3 minutes, its metabolites are more stable, but the biological activity is very weak.

Product Function

It is mainly used as an antiplatelet agent to prevent hypercoagulability in the treatment of certain cardiovascular diseases (e.g. cardiopulmonary bypass, hemodialysis, etc.). It is also used in severe peripheral vascular diseases (e.g. Raynaud's disease), ischemic heart disease, primary pulmonary hypertension and platelet-wasting diseases.

 

Pharmacology and indications

Epoprostenol has antiplatelet and vasodilatory effects, so it can prevent thrombosis. The mechanism of action of the former may lie in the activation of adenylate cyclase, which increases the concentration of cAMP in platelets.

 

Precautions

Common adverse reactions include hypotension, accelerated heart rate, facial flushing, and headache, the occurrence of which increases with dose. There may also be stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, elevated blood sugar, drowsiness, chest pain.

 

Usage and dosage

Intravenous, 5mg/kg per minute, prepared at the time of clinical brain use, continuous drip time according to the condition.
