Product Introduction

Berberine, also known as berberine, is a quaternary ammonium alkaloid isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine Coptis chinensis, which is the main active ingredient of Coptis chinensis antibacterial. It is a yellow needle-like crystal with a bitter taste. It is widely distributed in the plant kingdom, and berberine is found in about 4 families and 10 genera. In 1826 M.-E. Chavalier and G. Pertin were first obtained from the bark of Xanthoxylonclava.Berberine has antibacterial effect on hemolytic streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, gonorrhoeae and Freund's and Shigella dysentery, etc., and has enhanced leukocyte phagocytosis, and also has different degrees of inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Yersinia pestis, and also has inhibitory effect on amoebic bacteria in rats. Berberine has anti-curart effects in animals, and has peripheral antihypertensive and antipyretic effects. Berberine hydrochloride (commonly known as berberine hydrochloride) has been widely used in the treatment of gastroenteritis, bacillary dysentery, etc., and also has certain curative effects on tuberculosis, scarlet fever, acute tonsillitis and respiratory tract infections. Dysentery bacillus, hemolytic streptococcus, Staphylococcus aureus, etc. are very easy to develop resistance to this product. This product has no cross-resistance to penicillin, streptomycin, etc.

 

Pharmacokinetics
Poor oral absorption. After injection, it quickly enters various organs and tissues, and the blood concentration is maintained for a short time. The plasma concentration after intramuscular injection is lower than the minimum inhibitory concentration. The drug is widely distributed, mostly in the heart, bones, lungs and liver. The retention time in the tissue is short, only a trace amount is left after 24 hours, and most of the drug is metabolized and cleared in the body, and the original form is excreted within 48 hours, accounting for less than 5% of the dosage of the drug. Recently, it has been reported that this product can reduce the number of fimbria on the surface of the bacterium, so that the bacteria cannot attach to human cells and play a therapeutic role. This product also has an effect on spirobacteria, and can reduce gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers.

 

Indications
It is mainly used to treat gastroenteritis, bacterial dysentery and other intestinal infections, ocular conjunctivitis, purulent otitis media, etc. Recently, it has also been found that this product has the effect of blocking α-receptors and anti-arrhythmia.

Dosage
Take 0.1-0.3g orally once, 3 times a day. The concentration of the drug for external and topical application is 0.6-1.0%. Intravenous administration is strictly prohibited.

Clinically, it is mainly used to prevent and control mycoplasma infections in chickens, turkeys and other animals, and has only a preventive effect but no therapeutic effect on mycoplasma in pigs.
